Feathers, Shoes, Dinos, oh my!

Let’s hear it for that pop culture reference, eh?

   Hey there.

So, since spring has sprung, I’ve done mainly two things: 1) watered my plants 2) sat around all day. When I wasn’t doing those things, I shopped, went to the movies, dropped some dino sponge capsules in some water, made texting gloves, and got a contest prize in the mail. Hey, it’s only been spring for two days, okay?

Plants, dino sponge capsule in water, two movie tickets

As you can see in the poorly-colored picture above, I have three fresh plants(two strawberry, one’s, like, parsley or something) and one week-old little guy(sunflowers? marigolds? who knows?). Also, the somewhat random glass of water has a little yellow dinosaur-shaped sponge in it. I have maybe six more until my Dino World is complete. Thanks, Rite Aid clearance section.
Movie tickets. I love them, man. These up hurr are old-skool, technically speaking, because the real-people theater now uses CRAPPY, CRAPPY PAPER THAT IS NOT BULLETIN-BOARD-WORTHY AT ALL! Anyway, I say real-people because these tickets, like most of my saved ones, are from a $1.50 theater fifteen minutes away(by car, on the highway, going fast:). The tickets are for movies that are freshly taken out of the usual theaters, around 2-3 monthes old, though yet to hit DVD. Always $1.50, always perfect.
The movies I saw were Tangled and The Mechanic. A mini movie review? You got it.
I felt like Tangled was the perfect movie(if taken seriously) for the older toddler(6-8) audience. If older, and already a Disney fan, it was adorable! I loved it. It was so cute, and the best part? It had my guy Zachary Levi from Chuck! I love that show and that guy.
The Mechanic was a bit over-the-top, but still enjoyable, although the plot was a bit flimsy at times. The main guy was as great as he always is in action movies, and the no-name kid wasn’t so bad, either.

           My loot for yesterday, hoorah!

Alrighty, let’s rip this picture apart, shall we?
The picture of that chick from Glee: She’s on the cover of Peta’s Animal Times, which I got in the mail, due to my previous monetary donation.
The feathers: An awesome earring set from Target. SCORE.
The gloves: .37 from Target, I cut off the tips to make texting gloves for
next winter. Inspired by the kid from Shameless, I’ll probably dye them
white(which will probably give them a gray color–perfection).
The pack of capsules: Dino sponge capsules baby! If you’ve never seen
sponge capsules? Then, my friend, you had no childhood.

                Contest Prize: Crocs Flats

These are my new shoes. I won them. Oh. Oh yes.
I won them in an online magazine giveaway, about two weeks ago(and they’re already here!). They’re by Crocs. …Wait, what?
You see, Crocs are trying to makeoverize themselves. These Carlie flats? Yeah, $50. I wear a size 6, that’s what fits in these, too. They also have a jelly-ness to them, as well. You know, jellies! Jellies, the most popular, cheap shoe from the ’80’s? … Dude. Google it.
I’ll review them after wearing them out a few times. Cool?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAlrighty then. Catch you later, alligator.

  xoxo,
     Zoe

Products mentioned were bought by myself, excluding the shoes, which were won. I am not getting paid by any companies mentioned for this post, nor am I affiliated with them. Opinions are honest.

What’s New? (Coo Coo Ca Choo)

 Hey there.

(In case you’ve never heard of this thing called the past, that little coo coo rhyme is a lyric from the Beatles.)
Allllllrighty then! <—As you just read, I’ve been watching Ace Ventura lately. That rhino scene will change your life. Anyway, I recently got some mail. Hoorah! It’s my Doc Martens all the way from Europe.

No heel, no bulkiness = perfection only Doc himself can achieve.

They’re called Shoreditch/Eclectic Leather (holla!) Dr. Martens. I had to import them due to the lack of awesomeness(/leatherness) that U.S. online stores have available. I ordered them from KBK Shoes. These guys were on sale, alas, shipping wasn’t cheap(shipped next day without special payment; took around six weekdays to arrive). Since U.K. sizes are different, I ordered a size 4(I’m regularly a 6 – 6 1/2). If I’m wearing socks(I usually am…) and the laces are tied, they fit nicely. Oh, I also definitely suggest buying leather–it’s five dollars more expensive, but leather lasts longer and all your mud-n’-diseases from everyday adventures wipe off a whole lot easier. I won’t do a review, since I’m so biased about these.

Moving on, there’s not much new I have to say. I haven’t been doing much shopping, so no item reviews. I haven’t had many free days, so no blog-worthy adventures. Due to this coolness-lacking, I’ll share with you some recent discoveries of things that I’m currently digging.

  •   The word deck. It’s rad-person speak for cool(“Dude, that’s totally deck!”).
  • The band Mumford & Sons. It sounds like some furniture company from the South. However, it’s the coolest rock-folk-alternative band on the circuit right now. (Download “The Cave” and, if you’re looking for folkier, download “Winter Winds“.)
  • The TV show Chuck. Um, adorably kickass.
  • The book Red Riding Hood. Sounds totally lame, but if you want to see the movie, check it out. What intrigues me? The book was based on the screenplay, not vice versa. Or, if you can’t wait till the movie, read the last page–everything you need to know, right there. (:
  • The prehistoric Brontosaurus. What’s not to love?

To makeup for my extreme lack of posts last week, I’ll try to post in a day or two. Alrighty, then.

  xoxo,
    Zoe
